Job/Position Summary

The Vice President of Human Resources will be a critical member of the CTS leadership team.  They will be a strategic business leader and HR expert who will have direct impact on the profitability of the company.  As a member of the leadership team, the VPHR will share in the strategic planning of the company and is responsible for developing and driving HR, Talent, and Culture.

 

Collaborating with the senior management team, this individual formulates human resources strategies to address employee needs while aligning with the organization's goals and mission. They take on the responsibility of creating organizational HR policies, setting standards for recruiting, onboarding, training, career development, employee relations, as well as compensation and benefits planning. In addition, they offer guidance to subordinate staff and line management on applying HR policies within the organization.

 

This person leads and directs the efforts of other employees, overseeing personnel actions like hiring, performance management, and terminations. Supervision is assigned through a team of subordinate managers and/or directors. Additionally, they collaborate with other members of the executive management team to ensure the departmental strategy aligns with the overall goals of the organization. This role also involves developing policies, practices, and procedures that significantly influence the organization.

 

This position reports directly to the CEO and will be located at the CTS headquarters in Lisle, IL.

 

The successful candidate will be a candid communicator and a collaborative leader who models the company’s values. Candidates will have a broad HR background in an international manufacturer and possess exceptional business acumen. 

 

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Talent Acquisition
    • Develop an annual staffing strategy and implementation plan.  Implement the plan as agreed upon with Senior Management.  Must be able to adjust recruiting practices to meet demands associated with company growth.
    • Develop staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the company.  As needed, work with other parts of the organization to improve their effectiveness in selecting and assessing candidates.
    • Identify appropriate and effective external sources for candidates for all levels withing the company.

 

  • Talent Development and Planning
    • Develop human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge, and talent gaps.  Lead talent management through proper succession planning programs for key contributor and management positions.
    • Provide development programs to enhance employee knowledge and understanding of the business of the company.
    • Continually assess the competitiveness of all programs and practices against comparable companies, industries, and markets.
    • Ensure accurate and timely assessment of director level and above leadership.
    • Provide strategies and tools to support the development of leadership.
    • Conduct annual talent planning, including assessment and succession planning.

 

  • Total Rewards
    • Develop progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives and rewards for effective performance.
    • Collaborate with BOD Compensation and Talent Committee on organization’s compensation and talent strategy including executive pay, incentive programs, and succession planning.
    • Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce human resources policies and practices of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operations and effectiveness of the company. 

 

  • HR Excellence
    • Coordinate the activities, programs, and strategic HR plans throughout the company.
    • Monitor and guide activities of the global human resources team.
    • Recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employee-employer relations and promotes a high level of morale.
    • Establish credibility throughout the organization with management and the employees in order to be an effective listener and problem solver of people issues.
    • Develop strong working relationships with the entire senior leadership team, to act as a business partner on organization structure and talent needs.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field. MBA is a plus.
  • 15+ years of HR leadership experience in a global company.
  • 8+ years of experience in a mid-size manufacturing environment preferred.
  • The ability to navigate between strategic vision and hands-on tactical execution.
  • Excellent business communication skills.
  • A solid understanding of labor laws, regulations, and compliance.
  • Ability to influence, coach, and build strong relationships and foster effective communication with both employees and the leadership team.
  • Lead change management initiatives to facilitate smooth transitions, ensuring employee engagement and organizational readiness.
  • The ability to problem solves a variety of situations.
  • Strong detail orientation, analytical skills, and computer skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a timely manner.
  • Proven ability to plan and organize.
