Job/Position Summary

Analysis and reporting for the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) while providing support to the accounting functions of the plant locations of the SBU.  Position reports directly to the SBU Controller while supporting the Plant Controllers and accounting staff in financial reporting, analysis, transaction processing, and strategic planning.  Must be able to contribute in a team environment and flat organization.

 

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Consolidate financial information for the SBU as required for SBU analysis and corporate reporting, including: financial statements (forecast and actual), business plans, strategic plans, and management presentations.  Reporting requires proficiency in SAP, Excel, and Hyperion software utilized in the reporting process.  Results are compiled, analyzed, and reviewed with the SBU Controller and Executive Management.
  • Consolidate and analyze Operating expenses in comparison to budget, forecast and strategic planning, assist department managers in understanding and identifying costs drivers.
  • Support the preparation of sales plan and forecast, consolidate sales information from various sites, assist SBU controller and VP of Sales on assessing sales trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Coordination, consolidation and reporting of business unit capex requirements for budget and forecasts.
  • Provide assistance to other SBU locations in the implementation of accounting policies and procedures.  Develop and determine best practices and assist plant locations in the implementation of these practices.  Assist plant locations in various financial accounting capacities including controllership, training, reporting, and planning on a temporary assignment basis. 
  • Periodic and recurring analysis as requested by SBU management, Corporate, and Plant Management for the SBU and individual plant locations.  Analysis could include benchmarking, make vs. buy, and manufacturing site rationalization.
  • Lead business process improvement initiatives to analyze current state, develop team to recommend improvements, and implement solutions in order to minimize administrative complexity while maintaining sufficient internal controls

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge and understanding of corporate policies and procedures.  Automotive industry or equivalent experience desired but not required.  Exposure to manufacturing and cost accounting.  Familiarity with financial accounting internal control systems.
  • Should be able to take a general concept and develop the framework of the analysis with limited supervision.
  • Must be self-starter.  Should be able to create and work with innovative analytical tools. 
  • Must be able to work independently with good project management skills.  Must be able to multi task, as this position supports multiple functions / levels in the organization.
  • Must be able to effectively present financial information to non-financial personnel.  Intermediate business writing skills are also required.
  • Function as a team leader on special projects.
  • Must be willing / able to travel internationally.  Occasional travel may be required.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance required. Masters in Business Administration preferred.
  • 3-5 years general accounting and finance analysis experience.

 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) as needed
