Job/Position Summary

The Director, Global Quality is responsible for establishing and leading quality improvement efforts throughout the SBU.  Responsible for the ongoing support of the SBU’s Operational Excellence initiative, which works to propel CTS products’ organizations to develop, implement and maintain “World Class” operating systems.  Supports the Vice President of Operations in the establishment and attainment of functional and SBU goals and objectives, ensuring the fulfillment of the mission and vision of CTS products.

 

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Establishes strategic direction as part of the Business Plan, planned scrap reduction activities, and other activities aimed at reducing cost, improving product quality, and increasing levels of customer satisfaction. These quality improvement strategies apply to production as well as to the quality management system (QMS). 
  • Provide leadership and support for sites for Quality Audits from certification bodies and customers.
  • Provide leadership on quality improvement activities in the SBU by following up on the execution of quality improvement activities, providing required technical, professional, and training resources, advising divisions on quality issues, and reinforcing the core values of variation reduction, root cause analysis, prevention of occurrence, and initial process capability.
  • Supports the activities of the SBU’s Operational Excellence Program to ensure systems are in place and SBU organizations are progressing toward “World Class” status.  Staff sponsor in the aspects of Operational Excellence, which includes Planning and Control Systems, Total Quality and Continuous Improvement, and People/Team Processes.
  • Work with Product Design Engineering to improve the robustness and manufacturability of new products utilizing Design for Manufacture and Assembly techniques.
  • Lead a globally diverse and dispersed team to standardize global quality system across all SBU Sites.
  • Manage all high level customer and supplier interactions from escalations related to quality concerns and topics.
  • Develops, delivers, maintains, and adjusts global quality metrics for all SBU locations with follow up cadences and actions on a reoccurring basis.
  • Will have up to 12 direct reports globally consisting of quality managers from each factory.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to assemble factual information and deliver judgements, which are in the collective best interest of the SBU and/or Corporation. Must be able to reach decisions quickly.
  • Self-motivated and results orientated, proactive with outstanding planning and follow up skills.
  • Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects/tasks.
  • High level of initiative is mandatory.  Must be able to proactively establish goals and processes and motivate employees to perform. Must be able to recognize issues and implement corrective actions before the issues become a threat to the business.
  • Must be able to establish rigor and best practices for Global Quality Organization.
  • Ability to lead, coach, develop, and design a global organization across Americas, Europe, and Asia.
  • Able to communicate and write effectively resulting in a clear understanding of the issues.
  • Ability to lead effective communication internally as well as with CTS customers and suppliers.
  • Ability and willingness to travel when needed.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.                        
  • Must have complete understanding and experience with integrated manufacturing software systems, and tools.
  • Must have direct customer and supplier engagement experience as it relates to quality management.
  • Six Sigma/DMAIC problem solving and experience and knowledge.
  • Travel up to 25-50% at times as needed to support quality organization both domestically and internationally to CTS business, and customer engagements.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Technical/Engineering BS or BA Degree.
  • MBA desirable.
  • 10+ Years in Automotive, Aerospace, or Medical Device Manufacturing experience is required.
  • 10+ years of experience required in one or more of the following ISO9001, ISO13485, AS9100, environments and experience implementing one or more standards in an organization.
  • Experience with mechatronic modules is strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of Quality Management required with experience in a high-mix manufacturing environment as desirable.
  • Multi-site experience required, and multinational/global experience required.
