The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have at least 5 years of experience. In addition, to be a good fit for the IT Infrastructure Manager opportunity, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of global IT infrastructure and security management experience for a multi-site organization, including experience with:
    • Auditing and security / privacy regulations such as PCI-DSS, CCPA, GDPR, SOX, etc.
    • Information security frameworks, such as NIST
  • Experience managing a team that includes onsite direct reports as well as remote resources who report in a dotted line
  • Solid management and leadership skills, and the ability to motivate the team and drive results
  • Excellent business acumen with the ability to understand the cross-functional impact of business processes in manufacturing, supply chain, sales, customer service, finance, and ecommerce

In this corporate position you will report to and support the Global Director of IT/CIO, managing IT infrastructure and security for our user base of 3,000+ employees worldwide across 12 manufacturing facilities. You will have overall responsibility for the design, implementation and ongoing security and support of all infrastructure related technologies and the IT teams that support them. You’ll be a key driver for strategic planning for overall information technology throughout the organization, as well as for maintaining strong cybersecurity capabilities, and ensuring IT best practices. This will include data networking, server engineering, data center operations, Desktop support, and more.

In addition to the experience listed under The Requirements section, we are looking for a professional who has:

  • A strong results orientation, with astute attention to detail, accuracy and cost
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills, with an ability to mitigate risk, communicate effectively, and facilitate problem resolution
  • The ability to self-manage and motivate, to work well under pressure, and to manage multiple projects at the same time, using sound judgment
  • A strong sense of urgency and the flexibility to complete after hours and on-call work (if needed) for upgrades, deployments, and support activities which cannot occur during business hours

Preferred but not required:

  • ITIL and CISSP certifications
  • Microsoft and Network certifications
  • IT project management experience, including assessing, analyzing, designing, planning, executing, testing, deploying and supporting new system capabilities

 

More about the Role

In addition to the information under The Role section, you should know: 

 

Your team will consist of four direct reports who will be seated with you in Lisle, as well as dotted line reports from the local site administrators at our plants. As a working manager on a lean team, you’ll spend about half of your time completing hands-on system and network administration tasks and guiding your team in those tasks. The other half of your time will be spent at a strategic level to determine the best ways to provide services to the organization, oversee ongoing support, and think ahead about the best ways to maintain information security while also making that information available to those who need it, and to help create the associated policies and procedures. 

 

In support of the above goals, some of your specific tasks will be to:

  • Manage IT infrastructure and security service providers and ensure objectives related to service levels, standards, financials, and information security are met.
  • Act as the single point of contact for all infrastructure and information security projects, operations, and support. The scope includes End User Services (endpoints, email, collaboration, help desk, phones, productivity suite), Data Center, Network (voice and data), Servers, Business Continuity, and Information & Data Security.
  • Actively manage the Managed Service Providers responsible for the underlying technologies, operations, and projects. Ensure adherence to standards, report on KPIs and project progress.
  • Interface with internal stakeholders, IT, and technical service providers to define scope and requirements, design system changes, estimate level of effort, develop and implement projects according to scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Maintain awareness of current technology standards, releases, and emerging trends in Networking, End User Computing, Server Administration, Collaboration, and Information Security.
  • Evaluate requirements and design appropriate infrastructure solutions to business problems.
  • Develop and publish appropriate metrics (KPI) to track customer (user) satisfaction as well as infrastructure and security performance. Monitor performance and take action to address areas of improvement.
  • Maintain system and operational documentation for all infrastructure components. Assist user departments with input to their Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a rolling 5-year plan for global hardware, network and security infrastructure. Upgrade, patch, maintain, support, backup, archive and refresh infrastructure, endpoint, and security components. Verify and report on routine system maintenance procedures to ensure business continuity and security.
