This position is based in our plant and corporate headquarters in Lisle, Illinois, a community that is part of the Chicago metropolitan area ("Chicagoland") as well as the Illinois Technology and Research Corridor.

The Requirements

This leadership opportunity is a great fit for an individual with a well-rounded portfolio of experiences including general accounting knowledge, the ability to understand a standard cost inventory system and analyze manufacturing variances in a standard cost environment and sign off on new product costing.

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Plant Finance Manager opportunity, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 5 years of job-related experience, including cost accounting, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • SAP experience required; proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel skills, and PowerPoint
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to work with all levels 
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and to work under strict deadlines, particularly during the monthly close process

The Role

Reporting to the SBU Controller, with a dotted line to the Plant Manager, you will lead the accounting function for a key plant in Lisle. This is a functional management role working closely with our Shared Service Team in Mexico. While the team provides support for day-to-day transactional processing, account reconciliations, and internal control performance, you will oversee their work and ultimately be responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the trial balance. You will execute the final financial close processes, perform financial analyses, and be responsible for management reporting. Additionally, you will serve as the site leader for the annual and quarterly budgeting process, as a key partner in the monthly operational review, and interact with corporate and business unit leadership for various ad hoc requests.

More About the Role
In addition to the responsibilities described under the role, you will:

  • With assistance from our finance shared services organization, perform monthly close process mainly related to cost accounting and associated journal entries. Ensure completeness and accuracy of site financial statements
  • Prepare monthly/periodic reports to enhance management’s understanding of the results. Analyze spending reports and trends and prepare the month-end flash report and site operations review presentation
  • Identify reason(s) for fluctuations in our actual inventory costing valuation done in SAP
  • Prepare and calculate the quarterly inventory reserve
  • Prepare and analyze product line P&Ls and comparisons to forecasts and the annual operating plan
  • Coordinate and track cost reduction projects
  • Participate in the monthly site sales and operational planning process 
  • Ensure production data is accurate and timely so that useful information is available for costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, pricing and other decision making.
  • Prepare and review manufacturing metrics including lean KPIs and weekly manufacturing variances (e.g., labor efficiencies, PPV, scrap)
  • Be responsible for the annual standard-setting process
  • Assist in preparing capital expenditure requests, including financial justifications when required
  • Plan, coordinate and reconcile the annual physical inventory count
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Coordinate with the plant manager to develop the annual operating plan and quarterly forecasts
  • Complete various department projects/analyses as necessary
