Position Summary
- Responsible for global execution of Sensor product line and Software, Electronics, and Functional Safety, which are core enabling technologies that are used by the various other product lines for application in their end products.
- Responsible for Technology Roadmaps – Sensors, embedded electronics hardware, Functional Safety, embedded software, and systems.
- Provides leadership across these engineering functions in the global product development team within the Sensors and Mechatronics Business Unit (SMBU).
- Coordinates the creation, development, design and launch of the technology aspects for all SBU product lines. Works with other Business functions to deliver high quality products with a low overall cost per customer timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Primary CTS external technical interface for Sensors, Software, and Electronics of expertise in evaluating new technologies, analytical tools, supply base offerings, industry and market trends, and technology roadmaps.
- Primary CTS internal technical interface for the defined technology areas.
- Managerial oversight of globally distributed Electronics, Product and Test Systems Software.
- Provide guidance and technical input to Sensors, Pedals, and Mechatronics Product Roadmaps.
- Define and execute product plans including budget, timing, and resources in support of Technology, Product, and Sensors and Mechatronics Business Unit strategic initiatives.
- Career development for direct resources. Ensure that necessary skills are available to execute product development activities. Develop individuals’ skills and competencies by planning effective developmental activities related to current and future assignments.
- Operate departments within approved budget/forecast. Recommend actions to adjust forecasted spending based on changes in market conditions.
- Provide guidance for electronics hardware and lab and production manufacturing process technology.
- Coordinate activities with Sales, Purchasing, Program/Product Management, Quality, and Operations to execute new programs as well as support activities related to current production products.
- Continuously improve Product Development Process in area of direct ownership.
- Perform special assignments as necessary.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven experience managing engineering functions.
- Experience in one or more of the following required: sensors, embedded electronics, embedded software, functional safety, electrical machines such as brushed and brushless DC motors.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise cross-functional teams in globally resourced teams.
- Experience in product development and validation for high volume applications such as automotive, ground transportation, or aerospace.
- Self-motivated and results orientated, proactive with outstanding planning and follow up skills.
- Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects/tasks.
- Ability to lead effective communication internally as well as with CTS customers and suppliers.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally when needed.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven experience managing multiple engineering functions in the transportation industry.
- Experience all the following: sensors, embedded electronics, embedded and lab/production test software, Functional Safety, electrical machines such as brushed and brushless DC motors.
- Business Development experience with defining customized customer solutions.
Required Education and Experience
- Technical bachelor’s degree.
- 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work several hours at a computer
- Ability to travel up to 25% as needed, domestic and international
Working Environment
- Standard office environment

- Position is fully in office and can be based out of either Lisle, IL or Elkhart, IN
- Working teams are in both locations with travel expected between the sites

The expected annual salary range for this position is $160,000-200,000.
This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus with a target incentive of 15% of base salary.
