If you are an experienced manufacturing quality engineer with the drive to make a difference, this position offers you some compelling opportunities. You will:

The Requirements

 

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer. In addition, to be a good fit for the Quality Engineer opportunity, you will have:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in MS/BS in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Mechanical or Quality. Other qualified technical education will be considered based on experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a quality engineering role in manufacturing environments, including ISO audits and quality management systems; familiarity with EHS is a plus.
  • Electronics manufacturing experience is preferred, and knowledge of electronic measurement instrumentation used at high frequency a plus.
  • A demonstrated ability to proactively develop new ideas / methodologies, including self-motivation and a proactive, results-oriented approach.
  • Practical experience in ERP Systems, ideally including SAP platform user-level familiarity.

The Role

 

You will join the team at CTS Corporation’s Hopkinton Frequency Control Products Group and serve as the site's primary quality resource. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading quality engineering activities related to customer, supplier, and internal quality issues, including creating create corrective action plans.
  • Managing the ISO9001-2015 QMS, including leading team activities to review and improve quality procedures.
  • Leading continuous improvement efforts as required by external, supplier, and internal gap analysis.

More about the Requirements

In addition to the qualifications described under The Requirements tab, you will need:

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in recognized QE skills such as Lean/Six Sigma, 5S, DOE, VSM, C-E / RCA and/or TQM.
  • Good technical understanding of quality, including:
    • Capability in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, Six Sigma principles, etc.
    • The ability to plan meaningful experiments and analyze data with mathematical tools.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with ISO9001-2015, including lead participation in registrar audits.
  • The ability to learn and develop a reasonable understanding of the technology of CTS electronic products.

 

Just as important will be the following competencies and characteristics:

  • Judgement and analytical conceptualization, including good understanding of cause-and-effect relationships that will provide the skill to identify and solve problems.
  • Project management skills, including prioritizing multiple projects/tasks, with good planning and follow-up skills.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation and presentation abilities, with the ability to convey a clear understanding of issues.
  • Coaching, mentoring and performance management skills, with the ability to lead or influence individuals and groups.

 

Preferred but not required:

  • Lean Six Sigma green belt certification. 
  • Quality engineering certification through ASQ Registration and/or certification in Lean/Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable U.S. federal laws and regulations governing the export and import of controlled products, technology, services, and software. This includes, but is not limited to, knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

 

You should expect to work on-site every day (with some flexibility) and we are taking appropriate precautions to protect the health and safety of all employees and visitors.

 

More about the Role

In addition to the responsibilities described under The Role tab, you will:

  • Lead and participate in QE activities related to customer, supplier, and internal quality issues and create corrective action plans based on findings.
  • Manage the ISO9001-2015 QMS, including leadership of team activities to review and improve quality procedures. This will include scheduling and conducting management review meetings and creating and maintaining quality system documentation as required by ISO9001 and our site needs.
  • Manage ITAR and EAR compliance and document control systems.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts as required by external, supplier, and internal gap analysis. 
  • Lead the internal audit team and translate IA findings to corrective actions.
  • Direct the efforts of the site Document Control Associate and incoming/in-line inspection personnel.
  • Communicate with both customers and suppliers on quality-related concerns, quality system improvement, and continuous improvement projects, representing the company in this regard.  Activities will include negotiation of quality standards, establishing mutual action plans, and making presentations.
  • Gather data and prepare periodic reports for management on quality metrics (TCOQ/COPQ) and other company quality activities/issues.
  • Establish and communicate quality standards to involved personnel. This activity will include a wide range of activities, from establishing visual standards to disposition of MRBs.
  • Ensure EHSS objectives and targets are established for employees as applicable to their roles, training is assigned and completed on-time, and procedures are implemented, followed, and monitored to ensure EHSS compliance.

 

More about your success

This is a smaller operation with 20 employees and, while there is an individual who handles inspection, you'll oversee all aspects of quality. You'll shape and manage the overall quality strategy while also making hands-on contributions. While your quality expertise will be essential, just as important will be your leadership skills, particularly in driving change. You'll need to help people understand and buy in on changes. The more you can engage stakeholders in solving problems, the more effective the solutions will be.
