Title: Sr. Product Engineer

Job/Position Summary
This position will provide new product development and project launch leadership, serve as a leader of a multi-disciplinary team and provide core technical support, ensure the cost timing and performance objectives are met for assigned projects and provide training to other engineers and technicians. This position will be for someone who can manage/lead technical execution and conversations with customers and suppliers, not spending most of the day designing at a CAD station. The job requires in-office work, with some flexibility to work from home.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Lead Engineering activities to support accelerator pedal module VGT actuator development and production launch while interfacing with global customers and suppliers.
- Provide inputs for mechanical design by using Solid Edge software, as well as tolerance stack-up analyses, mathematical modeling of product function and performance, etc.
- Lead benchmarking and analysis of competitive products/technologies.
- Lead team to ensure product design and performance compliance with CTS, regulatory and customer specification. Develop internal performance specifications to support new product development.
- Ensure adequate project and technical communications (e.g. meetings, oral reports, technical reports) with CTS personnel, management, suppliers and customers.
- Manage technology development and integration into existing and new product/process opportunities.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of automotive industry procedures/systems, e.g., IATF-16949, APQP, FMEA, change control processes, etc.
- Thorough understanding of cause and effect relationships to provide the skill to identify and solve problems using tools such as FTA, 8D, 5-why analysis, fishbone analysis, DOE etc.
- Experience with DFMEA and/or DRBFM.
- Experience with Solid Edge or similar CAD program preferred.
- Self-motivated and results orientated, proactive with outstanding planning and follow up skills.
- Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects/tasks, including projects involving global teams.
- Able to communicate and write effectively resulting in a clear understanding of the issues.
- Ability to lead effective communication internally as well as with CTS customers and suppliers.
- External customer management experience required.
- Ability to use Microsoft office required.
- Automotive Quality Standards experience required.
- Familiarity with high volume production products preferred.
Required Education and Experience
- Technical Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of Automotive experience highly preferred, 3 years required.
Physical/Working Requirements:
- Ability to work several hours at a computer
- Ability to travel (domestic and international) as needed (up to 20%).
