Key Role Supporting New Product Development, Leveraging Great Resources at a Global Industry Leader

The Requirements


To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Product Technician opportunity, you will have:

  • An associate's degree in Electronics, Engineering, Automotive, or other STEM field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience as a technician, preferably in testing, product development, or warranty.
  • Solid analytical abilities, including the ability to summarize data and present relevant and useful information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced skills in Excel; knowledge of pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, etc. is strongly preferred.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to understand project objectives and identify the activities and tasks required to meet the objectives and timing without frequent supervision.

The Role


Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Pedals, you will join a team that includes several Product Technicians supporting a variety of Engineers. Your key responsibilities will include product pre-production builds, testing and analysis, as well as tracking inventory and performing warranty analysis. You'll also be responsible for data processing and information dissemination.

In addition to the qualifications described under <i>The Requirements</i> tab, you will need:

  • The ability to work with abstract concepts and handle situations when little information is immediately available. Analyze available information and make judgments regarding technical and non-technical situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and manage many simultaneous activities with interactions from different groups while handling changing priorities and resource availability.
  • Experience using electronic instrumentation, basic test methodologies and environmental test equipment is preferred
  • The ability to solder and de-solder, as well as to understand basic circuit board components and cable / wire harnesses is a plus.


You will work on-site daily, and we are taking appropriate precautions to protect the health and safety of all employees.


More about the role

In addition to the responsibilities described under <i>The Role</i> tab, you will:

  • Oversee and perform product builds for customer orders. Track inventory of pieceparts; create and track all build paperwork; track orders from customer and obtain appropriate internal paperwork; build product; test product to assure quality; and label, pack and ship product to meet customer timing deadlines. Confirm all proper documentation is completed and stored to meet CTS Quality System requirements.
  • Perform or direct product development testing and continuous conformance testing. Work with Engineering team in US and other global sites to determine builds for testing, plan for testing, write testlogs, perform testing for product, record data, perform data analysis and write test reports for Engineering approval. Direct testing group to perform testing, if needed, and confirm that all data is available. Recognize when part or equipment malfunctions and notify testing or engineering groups. Confirms all proper documentation is completed and stored to meet CTS Quality System requirements.
  • Perform data analysis and processing to assist Engineers. Create forms and templates to properly analyze and document data and assist with documentation for global product. Write control plans, work instructions and test instructions. Write engineering change requests, and track completion of the changes on global products. Confirm all proper documentation is completed and stored to meet CTS Quality System requirements.
  • Perform warranty analysis as needed. Properly log part in system, record appropriate information, test product to confirm performance, organize analysis with outside groups as needed, perform teardown, and write report for Engineering approval. Confirm all proper documentation is completed and stored to meet CTS Quality System requirements and customer requirements.
  • Assist with qualification of production lines, test fixtures and software. Perform Gage R&R, review measurement results, analyze data and report results to Engineering and Quality groups as needed.
  • Maintain build and testing fixtures and equipment. Confirm equipment is properly labeled, stored and functioning. 
  • Perform testing within Test Group as needed. Testing includes oscilloscope, magnetization checks, resistance checks, analysis of part signal, dust testing, vibration, strength testing on Instron, humidity testing, corrosion testing and more.
