POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Analyst supports project-based production programs within a government contracting environment by delivering data-driven insights, performance reporting, and cross-functional coordination. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production activities align with contractual requirements, cost controls, schedule commitments, and compliance standards.

 

Operating within a matrixed organization, the Production Analyst organizes and facilitates frequent interdepartmental meetings with Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and Contracts to monitor performance, mitigate risk, and support successful program execution. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical capabilities, disciplined documentation practices, and the ability to communicate effectively in a structured, compliance-driven environment.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program & Production Performance Analysis

  • Analyze project-based production data to monitor cost, schedule, and performance metrics.
  • Track program KPIs including throughput, labor utilization, earned value metrics (if applicable), schedule adherence, and material availability.
  • Support variance analysis related to production performance, budget, and forecasting.
  • Develop recurring dashboards and reports for program reviews, internal leadership, and executive briefings.
  • Assist in preparing data packages for customer reporting requirements, audits, and compliance reviews.

 

Cross-Functional Program Support

  • Serve as an analytical liaison between Operations, Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Finance.
  • Actively participate in recurring program meetings (IPTs, production reviews, risk boards, and status meetings).
  • Document action items, track follow-ups, and ensure alignment on performance recovery plans.
  • Support risk identification and mitigation planning related to production schedules and resource constraints.

 

Compliance & Process Optimization

  • Ensure production reporting aligns with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audit readiness efforts (e.g., DCAA, DCMA, or internal audits as applicable).
  • Conduct root cause analysis for production delays, cost variances, and quality issues.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within project-based workflows.
  • Assist in standardizing reporting processes across multiple active programs.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3–5 years of experience in production analysis, program analysis, or operations analysis. 
  • Experience supporting project-based or contract-driven production programs. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP/MRP systems. 
  • Strong understanding of cost, schedule, and performance metrics in a contract-driven environment. 
  • Excellent documentation, reporting, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, compliance-focused organization.
