The Requirements

 

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer. In addition, to be a good fit for the Quality Engineer opportunity, you will have:

  • BS in Engineering, or technical quality discipline
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in quality engineering is preferred but not required
  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with design of experiments
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred

The Role

 

You will join a team that also includes Manufacturing and Compliance Engineers. You'll work in conjunction with this team, as well as operators and others, to improve customer satisfaction, and reduce cost of quality through waste reduction, plan and implement continuous improvement activities. Responsibilities will include problem-solving, continuous improvement, establishing quality standards and more.

In addition to the qualifications described under The Requirements, you will need:

  • Good computer, typing skills, and technical writing skills (composition).
  • Sufficient computer knowledge to develop, improve methods for tracking and retrieving information.
  • The ability to:
    • Assimilate instructions and information in procedures to achieve independent decisions.

More about the Role

In addition to the responsibilities described under The Role, you will:

  • Lead and participate in problem solving activities to address deficiencies in production performance vs. established goals. This will include customer and internal issues and supplier quality issues. Activities are short and long term, formal and informal.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities. These activities will be proactive rather than reactive in nature as much as possible. Activities will include value stream mapping, cost reduction through VA/VE, suggestions to eliminate waste in process, and quality improvement/variation reduction initiatives.
  • Provide significant direct everyday support and guidance to manufacturing personnel.
  • Establish quality standards and communicate them to involved personnel. This will include a wide range of activities, from establishing visual standards to disposition of MRB’s.
  • Communicate with both customers and suppliers on quality-related concerns, quality system improvement, and continuous improvement projects. You'll represent the company in this regard, including negotiation of quality standards, establishing mutual action plans, and making presentations.
  • Create and maintain quality system documents as required by ISO9001 and our own company needs. These activities will include preparation of PPAPs, creation and revision of control plans, flow charts, gage studies, SPC charts, and other assigned documentation.
  • Gather data and prepare reports for management on quality metrics and other company quality activities/issues.
