The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have U.S. citizenship or permanent residence for ITAR compliance/security clearance. In addition, to be a good fit for the Inside Sales and Customer Service Manager position, you will have:
  • A bachelor’s degree required, ideally in Engineering or Business
  • 5+ years of sales experience or experience in a similar externally facing role at a major OEM or tier one supplier
  • 2+ years of management experience
  • Solid computer skills including CRM software experience, preferably Salesforce; SAP experience is an advantage
  • Strong sales skills with the ability to create tangible interest with customers for new ideas and products
  • Must have the ability to lead internal and external teams through influence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel domestically approximately 10% (typically, one week per quarter)


The Role

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, you will lead Inside Sales and Customer Service team members in proactively maintaining sales programs within their assigned territories by keeping customers informed about available prices and new products. In addition to managing the team, you will work an assigned territory alongside cross-functional team members including outside sales, engineering (technical expert) and customer service, and serve as the voice of the customer to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term retention. 

As Inside Sales and Customer Support Manager, you will help develop and improve revenue generation through the creation of sales leads, the initiation of prospect calls, and the establishment of relationships and business rapport with existing and potential customers. You will own and be accountable for your territory and meet established targets for retaining and growing profitable revenue from existing and new customers. You’ll spend approximately 80% of your time working with existing customers and 20% on new accounting generation. Salesforce will serve as the primary sales tool for you and the team.

In addition to the qualifications described under The Requirements tab, you'll need the following core competencies and characteristics:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, with ability to negotiate with various levels within the customer to translate and deliver CTS' message
  • Technical skills, ideally in electronic components a plus
  • Ability to gain deep product development understanding and intimate knowledge of customer requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer standards, specs and requirements as they pertain to offered products, capabilities and systems reporting metrics
  • Proven ability to effectively present information, including complex technical content, and be responsive to customer requests
  • Ability to deliver customer requirements and methodologies back to internal organization and ensure alignment
  • Possesses the ability to work and collaborate with teams virtually


More about the role

In addition to the responsibilities under The Role, as part of your specific activities you will:

  • Grow and maintain business within and between customer SBU's/locations within assigned customers. 
  • Develop long-term relationships within assigned customers, connecting the customer's key business players with CTS stakeholders.
  • Liaise between customers and cross-functional internal teams to ensure the timely and successful delivery of solutions according to customer needs.
  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with key accounts
  • Establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing/new customers in the designated market area to retain and grow profitable revenue from the existing/new customers. 
  • Contribute to and participate in strategic planning as requested.
  • Monitor customer projects with all involved functional areas to assure approval and success for the projects. Support and lead resolution of challenges where required.
  • Lead and coordinate regional voice of the customer research to understand evolving customer needs that provide vital input into new product and market development initiatives.
  • Serve as liaison between the customer's engineering group and CTS with respect to design and application issues.
  • Coach the local team. Identify required team skills and competencies and ensure proper team development support.
  • Ensure revenue forecasts remain up to date and are communicated appropriately.
