Job/Position Summary

CTS is seeking an entry level RF Microwave Filter Design Engineer to join our New Product Development team in Albuquerque New Mexico. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, motivated individual with an educational background to learn and excel in the design and manufacture of Radio Frequency Ceramic Filters.  The candidate will be part of a team, supporting the development of new microwave dielectric ceramic products. The candidate must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States and will have or be able to obtain classified clearance through the US Department of State.

 

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Translate customer RF Microwave filter requirements into manufacturable designed products that meet final customer specifications.
  • Optimize artwork to achieve the ceramic filter design goals with acceptable tune rates and yield Collect and analyze filter performance data, generate and maintain the design documents such as product datasheet, artwork drawings, material, and tooling drawings.
  • Knowledge of RF Microwave ceramic theory and filter design, planar circuitry such as stripline, and microstrip, and lumped filter theory a plus.
  • Use EM (electromagnetic) simulation and filter design software tools like AWR, CST or HFSS to model filter response and guide design.
  • Design circuits and layout PCBs required to test, validate, and support the RF filter designs.
  • Determine initial filter tuning methodologies for new designs and communicate with production operators on optimal methods.
  • Support RF filter product development from design to production, and product delivery.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • CTS will provide you with training and educate you on our design processes. You will gain experience in ceramic filter/ diplexer design and prototyping.
  • The candidate must be able to obtain or have a security clearance.
  • Energetic, motivated individual with ability to communicate in a timely and effective manner with manager, co-workers, production floor operators and customers.
  • Programming skills in script language and/or Matlab desired.
  • Proficiency with standard microwave test equipment such as Network and Spectrum Analyzers desired.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products such as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint required, capability with RF design software such as AWR, CST or HFSS is a plus.
  • Knowledge in RF PCB design requirements and techniques a plus.
  • Knowledge of the concepts of lumped element and filter and circuits impedance matching and tuning and general ceramic processing methods a plus.
  • The candidate will be on site in the Albuquerque facility 5 days per week (M-F). Some limited domestic travel will be required (<10%).

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Candidate must have completed or be currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering BS, MS, or PhD program.
  • Experience or knowledge of the design and fabrication of filters for telecommunication devices in the microwave frequency range a significant plus.
