Position Summary
CTS is seeking a New Product Development Engineer to join our team in Albuquerque New Mexico. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, motivated individual with technical experience supporting new product development, or new college grad with minimum of bachelor’s in the sciences. The candidate will be a part of a team, supporting the development of new piezoelectric and microwave ceramic products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop knowledge of the product and processes and serve as technical resource to rest of new product and manufacturing teams.
- Assists the product development manager and team to review customer requests.
- Interprets customer specifications and determines the best CTS technology and processes to use in the development.
- Collaborate with process engineers to define the most efficient and effective manufacturing processes for mass production.
- Plans and coordinates with team on product development activities to deliver quality samples on time.
- Serve as the technical lead to guide technicians and operators in proper techniques and methods for building new products.
- Work with peers to develop new fixtures, tooling, and processes as needed in support of new products.
- Transfer new products to manufacturing engineering following the CTS new product introduction process.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Energetic, motivated individual with a background in ceramics, electrical or mechanical engineering either through formal education or education + experience.
- Skills in communicating at all levels of technical and operating management
- Technical writing capability and effective at communicating through PowerPoint or other presentation mediums
- Ability to communicate in a timely and effective manner with manager, co-workers, higher level management and customers
- Knowledge of the general ceramics production process and background in piezoelectricity is an advantage
- Proficiency in MS Office products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required, capability with statistical software such as JMP, Minitab, modeling software such as Solidworks or Autocad is a plus
- Experience interpreting mechanical drawings and GDT a plus.
Required Qualifications
- BS or higher in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or ABET accredited degree.
- Education or training in ceramics materials and/or processes is a plus.
