Job/Position Summary
As a Group leader you will monitor, coordinate and schedule work activities utilizing people and equipment. Monitor Warehouse Operations while assuring materials preservation. Support and lead co-workers in all functions of the warehouse to meet department goals. Collaborate with management as needed. Promote teamwork and customer service focus with associates. Communicate and pass-down to oncoming shifts. Train individuals in processes as required. Perform warehouse responsibilities 30% and 70% group leader responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Follow and comply with all security, safety and quality procedures and work instructions.
- Performs a variety of tasks, following sets of written procedures. Occasionally chooses among alternative courses of action within the limits of established procedures, instructions, schedules, and priorities.
- Encourage a close working relationship between Production and Warehouse personnel.
- Develop and maintain adequate receiving, storage and delivery processes supportive of world class manufacturing operations.
- The job involves exchanging information with other persons including providing answers, explaining procedures, and communication with others to obtain answers.
- Perform routine production tasks under the close direction of the Materials Manager, including but not limited to forming, assembling and packaging of our products; the set-up and operation of various workstations.
- May require use of various tools and equipment including, but not limited to forklift, pallet jack, scales, computers, printers, etc.
- Responsible to monitor and lead warehouse activities.
- Coordinate and schedule work activities utilizing people and equipment.
- Assure that process integrity is being maintained.
- Audit and make sure that operators are following documented procedures. Make management aware if an operator is not following the process.
- Maintain proper inventory levels for VMI parts and Kanban in the warehouse to achieve production goals.
- Maintain world class inventory accuracy through various techniques including inventory audits, cycle counting and annual physical inventory.
- Ensure efficient use of transportation resources while meeting the needs of the customer.
- Maintain housekeeping in the work area.
- Other related duties as directed by management.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 year of experience on warehouse functions, and ERP system.
- Any training or certification on lean manufacturing preferred.
- Reading, writing and communicating in English.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to interact with upper management and internal/external customer and suppliers.
- Ability to communicate and pass-down to oncoming shifts.
- Ability to perform routine computer data entry and queries is required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively with co-workers, personnel from other departments and management staff.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Good manufacturing skills including good hand-eye coordination, close visual attention.
- Good understanding of various machine set-up and equipment operations.
- Able to work effectively in a team environment.
Physical/Working Requirements
- Ability to work outside in winter and summer months and transport of chemicals related to dangerous goods.
- Ability to lift material and equipment weighing up to 50lbs throughout the shift.
- Able to maneuver 55-gallon drums weighing up to 600lbs using a drum dolly.
- Ability to lift various weight and sizes of boxes and walking daily.
